Day 1: Half Day in Bangkok
After a grueling 32-hour travel time, we arrived in Bangkok around 1 PM. Known for its chaotic traffic, navigating Bangkok by car can be challenging, so we opted for a taxi to our hotel, Theatre Residence Hotel. Located near the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, this hotel offered easy access to key attractions.
Upon arrival, we freshened up and ventured out to explore the city. Although Jay Fai’s street food was booked out, we enjoyed delicious Pad Thai next door. Later, we attended a Muay Thai match at Rajadamnern Stadium—a thrilling introduction to local culture.
Day 2: Fly to Chiang Mai and Explore
Our second day began with an early morning flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai via AirAsia. Upon landing, we checked into Phor Liang Meum Terracotta Arts Hotel, renowned for its stunning terracotta architecture and lush gardens.
We spent the afternoon hiking the Monk’s Trailhead of Wat Pha Lat, a breathtaking jungle temple complex. The hike spanned approximately 3.5 miles round-trip, offering panoramic views and glimpses of authentic Thai temples nestled amidst waterfalls.
Day 3: Elephant Day at Elephant Freedom Village
The highlight of our trip was visiting Elephant Freedom Village (EFV), a sanctuary dedicated to ethical elephant care. After extensive research, EFV stood out for its commitment to responsible tourism:
- No forced interactions.
- No sedation or physical abuse.
- Small group sizes.
- Educational programs promoting conservation.
At EFV, we bonded with five elephants, feeding them treats and accompanying them on a leisurely jungle trek. We even participated in their daily baths at a picturesque waterfall—an emotional and unforgettable experience.

Day 4: Explore Chiang Mai and Travel to Khao Sok Village
On our fourth day, we explored additional temples in Chiang Mai before flying to Surat Thani. From there, we traveled two hours to Khao Sok Village, staying at Khao Sok Boutique Hideaway—a luxurious glamping site surrounded by dense rainforests.
Day 5: Khao Sok National Park Adventure
Khao Sok National Park proved to be one of the highlights of our trip. With the help of Khao Sok Lake Tours, we embarked on an all-inclusive two-day excursion featuring wildlife spotting, jungle treks, and overnight stays in floating bungalows.
Day 6: Sunrise Monkey Spotting and Farewell to Khao Sok
Our final morning in Khao Sok started with a sunrise boat ride to spot playful macaques and gibbons. After breakfast, we reluctantly bid farewell to the park, traveling onward to Krabi.
Day 7: Explore Krabi
Day seven allowed for slower pacing. Highlights included visiting Ao Nang for breakfast and spa treatments, taking a ferry to Railay Beach, and kayaking to witness bioluminescent plankton after dark.
Day 8: Phi Phi Island Tour
A speedboat tour of Phi Phi Island rounded out our southern Thailand adventures. Despite logistical challenges and unfortunate incidents (e.g., jellyfish stings and food poisoning), the beaches’ turquoise waters and white sands left lasting impressions.
Day 9: Back to Bangkok
Our final stop brought us back to Bangkok, revisiting familiar landmarks like the Grand Palace. For dinner, we treated ourselves to an exquisite Omakase meal at Momono Omakase, celebrating our incredible journey.
